| Hi! I'm back from camp. Actually, I've been home for two months but I haven't been online much. Camp was very good. I was in Cabin 10 with 12 other guys, including 1 counselor (who plays bass), 1 other classical pianist, 1 jazz saxophonist, 1 organist, 1 percussionist, 1 singer, 1 clarinet player, 1 oboe player, 1 bassoon player, and 3 violinists. All of them were my friends, and we were very good friends by the sixth week. Every morning, we woke up to a trumpet call and ran outside for line-up at 6:30am. When we got back to our cabin, we did our cleaning job. Then, we had to leave the cabin by 7:00am, when it was inspected. Breakfast sure wasn't worth getting up on time, but, of course, all the other parts of camp made up for the meals. Every night, taps put us to sleep. I'll write more about camp later. When I got home from camp, I had to choose what I was going to do for school this year. I've been accepted to--according to Interlochen's literature--the best high school arts boarding school. Unfortunately, the tuition is too high (even after the generous scholarship). So, I was left with two options; homeschooling again, or a private Christian school (or public school, but I know what's best for me, so that doesn't count). I was very close to going to the private school, but I decided that I must pursue my passion and stick with it. The pastor at the church I went to for six weeks said that life is two things: Making decisions and Experiencing the consequences. Before I came home, I decided what I will do when I'm older. Maybe it will change, but right now I believe it is a good goal. Since taking an organ elective at camp, I have decided that I want to do something in church music. Here, there are options; organist, music minister, pianist, maybe some combination of those. If I could make enough money doing this--along with teaching and performing--in a church setting, how can it go wrong?? In Proverbs there is a verse that says A man makes plans, but the LORD directs his path. So, I'm not worried. But the reason I've thought about the future is I think maybe this verse implies that you should make plans. Maybe that's off--anyway, I know there's something in the Bible about having goals. That's why I chose to continue homeschooling--to have more time to carry the cross that God's given me. It is a responsibility to use my God-given talent the best that I can. So I must.
I didn't feel this way before camp. I heard about passion from some passionate people, people that were maybe more passionate about passion than whatever passion they were passionate about. If I could find mine at an arts camp, you can find yours anywhere. You probably won't find it right away; and when you do it might take six weeks to develop and realize it. But when you do, make sure to do it for God. That is the most important thing I learned at camp. The first Sunday at church I wasn't very happy because I was late trying to find the building. After that, I am glad that I went. Seriously, my future would be different if I hadn't experienced summer '06.
| I'm leaving tomorrow, I'll be gone for six weeks, working on piano. If you want to, you can write me a letter. I don't know my address yet, but I'll find out when I get there.

| I posted that verse last weekend, but I still think it's a pretty good one.
Monday-- my family went to the parade and the memorial service afterwards. I stared down a pink peace activist, so she walked away from the service before the veterans' roll call (list of deceased heroes) was listed. That was fun!
Tuesday was a nice day. I went to a picnic at Twin Lakes Palatine. Later, I played piano accompaniment for Schaumburg Youth String Ensemble, a beginning-intermediate group of string players. After I played with them, I grabbed my trombone and played with the Schaumburg Youth Concert Orchestra. (I'm in the high school group, Schaumburg Youth Symphony Orchestra)
On Wednesday, a musician came to our house and taught the girls (while reviewing to me) some theory.
I had a piano lesson Thursday. Later, I had a trombone lesson to get my audition ready. After that lesson, I went late to the last CYT strike party.
This whole week I've been writing songs. Often, I get frustrated trying to write lyrics, but this week they've been comin'.
I don't usually blog like this, but of course, I don't usually blog at all.

| Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! | | |
| I just got this quote from watching the history channel's special, "Behind the Da Vinci Code".
Henry Lincoln, (co-author of Holy Blood, Holy Grail, the book that Dan Brown got his ideas from), said about a descendent of Jesus: "It is nothing more than a hypothesis...Someone may have believed that there was a blood descent from Jesus. Throughout the research, we were constantly looking for any fragment of evidence which would tend to contradict the idea. But to our amazement, everything tended to confirm [that] nothing tended to contradict."
